Support Services

Carroll Hospital offers a variety of support services to empower cancer patients and their loved ones with knowledge and confidence. Unless otherwise noted below, support services are free and open to the public. Please call 410-871-7000 for more information or to register for any of these services.

Breast Cancer Support Group
This ongoing support group provides education and special understanding for women who are newly diagnosed with breast cancer, currently receiving treatment or in recovery. Spouses and partners are welcome. The group is facilitated by a registered nurse or nurse educator, and educational presentations often are conducted by healthcare professionals. The group meets online the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. Call 410-871-7000 to register or for more information.

Gather and Connect Support Group
This group provides an opportunity for people living with cancer and their caregivers to share strategies on dealing with cancer. These meetings are designed to facilitate a sense of community for those who have been affected by cancer. Attendees are invited to stay for the entire session or a portion of it. The group meets the fourth Monday of the month (except holidays) from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Call 410-871-7000 to register and gain access to the online support group.

Complementary Health Services
Carroll Hospital’s Complementary Health Services include acupuncture, massage, reiki, reflexology and yoga to help you care for your mind, body and spirit. Learn more.

Gina’s Warriors Comfort Fund
Carroll Hospital is offering additional relief and support, through the Gina’s Warriors Comfort Fund, to men and women diagnosed with colon cancer. Established in memory of Gina Maria Barnes, who passed away following a valiant battle with colon cancer, the fund will provide individuals undergoing colon cancer treatment with a range of resources to improve their quality of life—physically, financially and emotionally—in all aspects of their cancer journey.

Services the Gina’s Warriors Comfort Fund support may include massage therapy and acupuncture treatments at Carroll Hospital’s Tevis Center for Wellness; gift cards for food, gas and comfort items for patients; the cost of wigs and other cancer-related supplies; and copay and deductible assistance (some restrictions apply).

Patients who are currently being treated for colon cancer and reside or are employed in Carroll County are eligible. Limited funds available; requests are fulfilled in the order in which they are received. Please call 410-871-7119 for more information.

Look Good Feel Better Live!
These virtual workshops provide valuable information and connection for women undergoing cancer treatment. This online experience offers live instruction and tips for dealing with appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment during one-hour, online workshops. Learn more.

Nutritional Counseling
A registered dietitian who specializes in oncology nutrition, particularly during chemotherapy or radiation, can develop eating plans to help patients strengthen their immune systems and promote recovery.
